甘麥大棗湯，最先出自於醫聖張仲景的《金匱要略》

甘麥大棗湯由甘草三兩、小麥一升，大棗約五至七枚組成，其構思精練，組方奇妙。大有養心安神、和中緩急、補脾益氣等功效。

治療憂鬱症除了養肝之外，也應養心。久鬱傷神則心神失養，這類病人常有精神恍惚、疲乏、悲憂哭泣的情況，必須安心養神，藥方常用甘麥大棗湯。

心主血脈，和精神有關，脾臟則主掌消化吸收，因此心脾兩虛的主要症狀包括心神不寧、注意力難集中、心悸、口淡無味、睡眠品質差，最後導致憂鬱。

甘麥大棗湯的三味藥中，有兩味是食物，可謂平和之極，但效果卻不是一般的好。除了緩解憂鬱，還有寧心安神的作用。
